With a seasoned background in both print and broadcast journalism, Winston F. Emano, brings a unique editor's and writer's perspective as well as genuine, professional media contacts to his new position as the TCDM & Associates Executive Director of Film and Music. Since joining TCDM, Winston has supervised the festival program publicity for Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film & Video Festival, award-winning campaigns at Sundance and at the 2001 Oscars®. Recently he steered and implemented the national media relations strategy for "Small Voices," a film by Gil Portes; "The Flip Side," a film by Rod Pulido; American Movie Classics original special "Greta Garbo: A Lone Star" and "Marilyn Monroe: The Final Days" in association with Fox Home Entertainment's Diamond DVD release. Past film and television projects include: select HBO "America Undercover Sundays" installment; "Sister Helen," a documentary feature by Rob Fruchtman and Rebecca Cammisa; HBO's "Murder On A Sunday Morning" and "Blue Vinyl."
Prior to joining TCDM, Emano co-founded and was Executive Editor of iJeepney.com -a comprehensive, content driven web destination for the worldwide Filipino Diaspora.
As the former North America West Coast Editor for Guerin Sportivo (Italy) and SPORT (Switzerland) --two of the world's oldest and largest sports publications - Emano has seen his works appear in more than 50 media outlets worldwide including: GQ; Detour; Wallpaper; Wall Street Journal; The Face; Le Monde; Figaro; El Pais; Newsday; Il Giornale and an award-winning series in the Boston Globe. Additionally, he has produced segments on the worldwide Reggae music scene for MTV-Europe, created a pilot newsmagazine for VisInter Networks and did play-by-play announcing for the World Cup of Surfing on Prime Ticket Networks (now Fox Sports Net).
Emano triple-majored in magazine and newspaper journalism and media law at the S.I. Newhouse School at Syracuse University, NY. While at school, his summers were spent as Director of Communications for 101 Diversified Properties, Inc. - a Dun and Bradstreet-registered firm specializing in international commercial and industrial real estate. Upon graduation, he served stints at CBS National and local affiliate news as a reporter and assignment editor.
He serves and has served on the boards of the Professional Basketball Writers Association, the Quill and Scroll Society (Nation's oldest journalism fraternity), the Southern California Rugby Football Union and is a founding board member of the Association of for the Advancement of Philippine Arts and Culture (Fil-Am Arts) and the Festival of Philippine Arts and Culture. He also acts as a pro-bono media strategist/consultant for various Filipino American and Asian Pacific non-profit organizations including the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film and Video Festival and Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA).
